Open spaces and recreation grounds

Footpaths and bridleways criss-cross the countryside within and around Kingston – from the village to the South Downs and through surrounding fields as well as the cycle path linking the village to nearby county town of Lewes.

The proximity of open countryside provides the parish with important recreational facilities for walking, riding, cycling and running while the two village greens are perfect open spaces for football, cricket and tennis.

Throughout the year events attract many local visitors and Kingston Parish Council is pleased to consider on application the use of its greens.

The Village Green is situated centrally to the village behind The Juggs pub and accessed through its car park. The children’s play area is here, as well as plenty of space for activities. In Summer there can be open air theatre as well as the village fun day or a car show.

St Pancras Green
Kingston Community Pavilion on St Pancras GreenThis larger green is found nestled away at the heart of the village and is home to the Kingston Community Pavilion and Kingston youth football teams! The two tennis courts are well used and the green which is surrounded by beautiful trees and shrubs with the parish church to one side is a tranquil oasis for reflection or recreation.

Much smaller by comparison to the others, the green at Snednore, on Wellgreen Lane was Kingston’s original village green. Owned by Lewes District Council it now provides surrounding homes with an attractive outlook and recreational space.
